Clement is a managing associate finance lawyer with a particular focus on aviation, derivatives and structured finance.

Career

Clement is an experienced structured finance lawyer. His experience in the aviation sector includes leading commercial and export credit agency guaranteed financings, portfolio sales, leases, lease novations, refinancings and Japanese operating leases. He has advised banks, lessors and airlines on various aspects of aircraft financing and leasing transactions involving multiple jurisdictions. He has advised Lion Air Group and its subsidiaries on its aircraft fleet portfolio restructuring and transfers. More recently, he advised Singapore-based Transportation Partners on the restructuring of the Lion Air Group involving more than 200 aircraft and 50 lessor groups to deal with the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the airline group.

Of particular value is Clement’s ability to advise on, negotiate and execute the hedging aspects of aviation finance transactions which is unique to the industry. He has over a decade of experience advising on ISDA Master Agreements and other derivative agreements, including advising various lenders and borrowers on interest rate swap and cross currency swaps, a global energy and commodity group on gold derivatives and a leading energy provider on energy and carbon derivatives.
