Career

Thanh Phuong Vu heads the biotechnology and chemical division of the patent team in the Hanoi office of Tilleke & Gibbins. She is a qualified IP agent with a strong cross-disciplinary background in the life sciences and IP law. Before joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Thanh worked for one of Vietnam’s leading local patent prosecution firms, handling patents and designs in, among others, the pharmaceutical, computer, and automotive fields. She also has direct experience in the life sciences from working as a researcher in pharmaceutical and biotech laboratories.

Thanh earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology with high marks from the Hanoi University of Technology in 2005, and received a scholarship to the National University of Singapore, where she obtained a Master of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She subsequently earned a law degree from the Hanoi Law University and finished the lawyer course at the Judicial Academy. Thanh is a member of APAA, ASEAN IPA, and VIPA.
