Career

A founding Partner of Quillon Law, Mark Hastings is an experienced litigator who has been involved as lead partner in some of the highest value and most complicated cases before the English courts and internationally over the past two decades.

Mark is well-known for his work across multiple jurisdictions in complex civil fraud cases and investigations, as well as acting in high-profile commercial litigation, insolvency litigation, shareholder disputes, contentious trusts and private wealth disputes. He is also highly experienced in advising on injunctions, freezing orders, and proprietary and search orders.

Mark regularly acts for high-net worth individuals, global corporates and their directors, hedge funds and insolvency practitioners. Many of his current cases have an international or cross-jurisdictional element and he is particularly renowned for his expertise in litigation originating in CIS, South America, the Middle East and related jurisdictions.

Highlights of Mark’s recent work include successfully defending businessman Oleg Deripaska against committal proceedings brought by a former business partner at both first instance and on appeal.

He is also currently defending shipping company FESCO in a $14 billion claim brought by jailed businessman Ziyavudin Magomedov – one of the largest ever claims to be brought in the English High Court.

Mark is a solicitor-advocate with full rights of audience in the higher courts. He has managed teams of leading and junior counsel from all the major sets of barristers’ chambers.
