Position
Lois advises financial institutions, corporates and entrepreneurs on a broad range of complex, cross-border commercial matters in High Court and international arbitration, with particular experience in corporate and shareholder disputes, contract disputes, banking litigation and financial crime.
Lois has broad experience in acting for corporates, or individuals with corporate interests, across a range of sectors, including private equity, financial services, aviation, energy, retail, beverages and commodities.
Lois’ High Court and arbitration experience includes complex post-deal warranty and indemnity disputes, claims for fraudulent misrepresentation, valuation issues, shareholder rights and unfair prejudice claims, banking disputes concerning complex financial products and breach of commercial agreement claims. London > Dispute resolution > Commercial litigation: premium
(Leading individuals)The ‘first rate commercial team’ at Macfarlanes LLP continues to grow, acting on high-value, cross-border disputes, often with precedent-setting elements. The litigation practice is able to rely on the strong competition litigation, financial services, and tax departments at the firm, as well as the much-lauded private client practice. Matt McCahearty is ‘totally on top of his cases’ and is responsible for leading the team, within which the ‘particular feature is the level of partner involvement’. Iain Mackie is integral to the team, specialising in large-scale corporate and financial services litigation, as is ‘ferociously bright’ Lois Horne. At associate level, Fred Snowball is ‘tenacious in fighting his clients’ corner’.
