Position

Alexander is a partner in the Employment, Pensions & Benefits practice and heads the Pensions practice.

Career

Alexander has a particular focus on:

  • collective labour law
  • pension projects
  • top executives

Alexander advises on the labour law aspects of large corporate reorganisations, most notably collective bargaining agreements and post-acquisition restructurings. This can involve the coordination of European restructuring projects in several countries.

Furthermore, he advises on specific pension-related projects such as restructuring or winding down of pension schemes, negotiating contracts the pension fund will enter into, advising on the pensions aspects of corporate transactions and complex litigation. He also supports clients in any discussions with the Belgian pensions regulator (FSMA) and can assist on any international aspects of company pension plans.

Alexander also has a specific expertise in advising pension funds in the private and the public sector on compliance matters.

Finally, he assists top executives in negotiating their employment contracts and exit packages. He has a particular focus on top executives in the financial services industry.

Education

Alexander graduated in 1991 with a law degree from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL). He also studied European law at the University of Edinburgh. Alexander was admitted to the Brussels bar in 1991.

Between 2007 and 2010 Alexander was Managing Partner of Lydian.
