Career

Maarten de Wit is an attorney-at-law at AKD who specialises in, among other things, European law, competition law, procurement law and (European) energy law. Maarten has experience with projects relating to wind energy, solar parks and the creation and operation of heat grids.

Maarten’s clients include government bodies and private parties. He advises and represents these clients in the context of cartel arrangements, the abuse of dominant positions and state aid. He also assists companies with filing notifications of mergers and takeovers. In addition Maarten litigates for various bodies, such as the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets [Autoriteit Consument en Markt] (formerly the Netherlands Competition Authority), the European Commission and the Dutch courts.

Maarten teaches and publishes regularly. For example he is a lecturer at the SGB (the professional training for municipal lawyers) and is a member of the editorial team of the Dutch journal for state aid law [Tijdschrift voor Staatssteunrecht].
