Career
Carlos Lasarte is an expert in financial transactions, particularly in project financing (real estate, energy and infrastructures), acquisitions financing, and corporate finance in Spain, Latin America and North Africa.
He is also an expert in advising financial institutions and corporations on restructuring, and debt refinancing, as well as in debt assignment transactions, including buying nonperforming loan (NPL) portfolios.
He has advised many companies on their transactions in Peru and Colombia and has an in-depth knowledge of the Latin American market.
Since joining Cuatrecasas in 2006, he has mainly worked at the Madrid, Bogotá and Lima offices, in cases with a strong international component. Between 2009 and 2010, he was a member of the legal department at Aareal Bank, AG, in Wiesbaden (Germany) where he was responsible for advising on real estate transactions for Spain, France and Belgium.
He lectures in the Master for Admission to the Practice of Law at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and on project financing and refinancing from a legal perspective at Analistas Financieros Internacionales.
He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association (2006).
