Thomas Munk Rasmussen specialises in data protection and intellectual property law.

Thomas Munk Rasmussen is one of Denmark’s leading data protection law and intellectual property law specialists, which is reflected in recognitions from several international law firm rating agencies.

Thomas provides advice on all aspects of data protection law, including the rules on processing of personal data in acts governing specific subject matter. He has worked with data protection law for more than 20 years (Danish as well as EU legislation), assisting both public and private organisations. He has handled numerous security violations involving personal data and accordingly he has profound experience with crisis management, communication and processing in respect of supervisory authorities.

Thomas has also worked with intellectual property law for more than 20 years with particular focus on marketing and consumer law. He has conducted a number of cases of general public importance before the courts and represented many private and public organisations in cases against the supervisory authorities.

Further, Thomas was responsible for the establishment and development of Bech-Bruun’s Data Protection Officer programme (DPO), completed by more than 250 DPOs since 2016. Furthermore, as an associate professor he has taught IT and data protection law at the University of Copenhagen where he has also been a tutor in property law.
