The Legal 500 is delighted to return to China for the third year, recognising the leading global and national leading PRC firms, lawyers, as well as in-house counsels and teams who have contributed immensely to China’s fast-growing and complex legal market.
Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions with the US and the impact of US tariffs on Chinese exports, China’s economy demonstrated remarkable resilience in early 2025, with GDP growth outperforming expectations. 2025 saw a major surge in Hong Kong listings by Chinese companies. Whether through primary IPOs or A+H dual listings, Hong Kong is experiencing an IPO boom largely driven by regulatory support and strategic diversification away from US markets. Middle East and Southeast Asia continue to receive a steady flow of Chinese investment, notably in the digital infrastructure, clean energy, EVs, and local manufacturing. Economic challenges, regulatory changes and sector-specific pressures have also been driving a growing number of restructurings in sectors spanning real estate, solar energy, EVs, traditional manufacturing, consumer goods and services. Furthermore, both domestic and international arbitration caseloads and dispute values are rising, supported by legal reforms, and greater global engagement with Chinese arbitration venues.
This awards process is based on Legal 500’s annual market-leading independent research, covering world-class full-service and boutique PRC firms as well as foreign law firms, many of which work in conjunction with PRC counterparts – each leveraging their unique strengths. Winners will be selected by a judging panel with deep knowledge across jurisdictions and practice areas.
