Data transfers between administrative authorities are now governed by the Danish Data Protection Act alone

The Danish Ministry of Justice's Bill to amend the Danish Public Administration Act was adopted by the Danish Parliament with effect from 1 July 2009. As a result, manual and electronic transfers of personal data between administrative authorities are now governed by the Danish Data Protection Act alone.

In addition, the amended Act introduces a certain relaxation of the rules governing manual transfer of data between administrative authorities if necessary for administrative purposes at the recipient. It also establishes the Danish Data Protection Agency as the regulatory authority for manual data transfers between administrative authorities.

The Bill was adopted as introduced. Click here to see a previous article on the Bill.
