10-02-2009 - Act amending the Danish Act on Inventions at Public Research Institutions

The Danish Parliament has passed the Bill introduced by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation which is intended, among other things, to increase commercialisation of public sector research and development.

The scope given to Danish research institutions to protect and exploit intellectual property created by employees has been widened considerably. With the new Act, universities, hospitals and other research institutions are now better equipped to protect intellectual property that has been created together with private partners, students and other institutions. The new Act also increases the scope for acquiring and assigning rights in intellectual property, including software.

The Act entered into force on 1 January 2009.
