In late 2006, the Danish Government and a number of the political parties represented in Parliament agreed to implement a comprehensive ban on smoking in public places and workplaces. The Bill introducing the ban on smoking was to be drafted by the Ministry of the Interior and Health and enter into force on 1 April 2007.

The Bill went out for consultation in early 2007, but the Danish Minister for the Interior and Health recently announced that it is not realistic for the Bill to be read in time for it to enter into force on 1 April 2007.

The Bill is expected to be introduced shortly and the effective date has been announced to be 15 August 2007.

Norrbom Vinding will be following the Bill's progress.
