Team Services

The Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Department of Africa Legal Associates is constituted by a well-balanced and highly-skilled team of lawyers who bring to board their rich experience in handling disputes spanning the various fields of law. The Department is made up of lawyers who possess, and have over the years, honed the requite skills to adeptly resolve contentious and non-contentious disputes on behalf of clients of the firm. While majority of the matters we handle in litigation and dispute resolution are in the areas of commercial litigation, debt recovery and restructuring, finance, intellectual property, real property, and energy and natural resources, our expertise spans other fields of practice, including matrimonial law, immigration, and labour and employment law, among others.

As part of our efforts to align our practice with emerging trends and global best practices in the resolution of disputes, we integrate traditional litigation with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms such as arbitration, mediation and negotiation to obtain results that are best suited to the specific needs of our clients. By employing these ADR mechanisms, we assist our clients to achieve results that preserve commercial relationships, prevent unnecessary expense and delay, and the common drawbacks associated with traditional litigation. Again, ADR plays a vital role in our advisory services, as its fundamental attributes are relatively less constrained by jurisdictional limitations and require a more universal approach, and this enables us to cater to our very diverse client base, encompassing Ghanaian and foreign entities.

Furthermore, our lawyers have dedicated themselves to continuously refining their courtroom advocacy and negotiation and mediation skills to ensure that we have a robust team that is able to handle the toughest legal problems and provide our clients with legal representation of the highest quality. A number of our Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Department members have received training in jurisdictions outside of Ghana, particularly in the United Kingdom. As a result, we are able to leverage this international exposure and cross-jurisdictional expertise to introduce diverse perspectives toward the resolution of disputes on behalf of our clients. As part of our commitment to continuous professional development, our team members regularly participate in training sessions to enhance their proficiency in the practice area.
