Achievements of the Community Service Team

The Community Service Team at Basima Al Sumoom Law Firm plays a vital role in realizing the firm’s vision of law as a force for social progress, empowerment, and justice. Through strategic initiatives, outreach programs, and active participation in events, the team has contributed meaningfully to advancing legal awareness and promoting a culture of responsibility and inclusion across Oman.

-Promoting Legal Awareness in Academic Communities

As part of its ongoing commitment to youth engagement and legal education, the Community Service Team proudly sponsored  Sudun Legal Week and the Development Program of the Legal Awareness Group at Sultan Qaboos University. This initiative reaffirmed the team’s belief that the legal profession extends beyond courtrooms and corporate offices, it is foundational to building informed and empowered communities.

Through this sponsorship, the team supported the dissemination of accessible and engaging legal knowledge among students and the broader public, in line with the Legal Awareness Group’s mission. The partnership highlighted a shared vision:  legal awareness is not just education—it is a tool for empowerment, justice, and sustainable social development.

Championing Women empowerment:

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Community Service Team collaborated with the Ministry of Labor and the **Occupational Health & Safety Authority** to spotlight the legal protections and workplace safeguards available to women under Omani law. This event aimed to raise awareness of women’s safety, entitlements, and career opportunities, reinforcing the firm’s advocacy for inclusive, equitable workplaces.

The initiative reflects the team’s commitment to empowering women and ensuring that legal protections are both understood and upheld  in all professional sectors.

National Legal and Safety Engagements:

In alignment with national efforts to strengthen legal and social development, the Community Service Team actively participated in the Occupational Safety & Health Conference organized by the Ministry of Labor**. The firm’s founder and CEO, Ms. Basima Al Sumoom, was honored during the conference for the firm’s outstanding contribution—an award that reflects the team’s ongoing work in aligning legal knowledge with civic responsibility.

Additionally, the team took part in the World Day for Health and Safety at Work 2025, hosted by Sohar Port and Free Zone, offering expert legal input on occupational health and safety regulations. In recognition of its valuable contributions, the team was awarded a certificate of appreciation, reaffirming its role in ensuring that workplaces across Oman remain safe, legally compliant, and socially responsible.

Diplomatic Collaboration and Legal Outreach:

Demonstrating its inclusive approach to legal service, the Community Service Team had the honor of welcoming  H.E. Syed Naveed Safdar Bokhari, the newly appointed  Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman. The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce the firm’s initiatives and share its commitment to supporting embassies through legal training and community outreach.

This diplomatic engagement reflects the team’s belief in serving all nationalities and fostering partnerships that enhance legal empowerment at both the institutional and grassroots levels.

Internship Program: Building the Next Generation of Legal Professionals

As part of its community-focused initiatives, the Community Service Team has previously implemented a robust Internship Training Program, designed to offer law students and recent graduates real-world legal experience. This program provided participants with practical skills, legal knowledge, and an ethical foundation—preparing them to contribute meaningfully to the legal sector and society at large.
