As part of BSA LAW’s CSR initiative for 2017, the firm organised a one-day, free-of-charge legal clinic for members of the general public.

The ‘Legal Clinic’, held in collaboration with the Dubai Land Department (DLD), was a great success, attracting many individuals seeking free legal advice.

Members of the public, many of whom were facing legal issues but lacked the financial means to obtain advice, benefited significantly from this first-of-its-kind initiative. The ‘Legal Clinic’ provided a six-hour window for attendees to access free legal advice from 25 expert lawyers specializing in areas including real estate, construction, employment, compensation claims, criminal matters, debt recovery, tenancy disputes, inheritance, and family law.

Dr. Ahmad Bin Hezeem, Senior Partner at BSA LAW, commented, “Our ‘Legal Clinic’ was an enormous success, and we hope to organise subsequent clinics in the near future. This initiative is an extension of our corporate social responsibility programme, and the lawyers who participated felt a deep sense of pride and satisfaction. The BSA LAW ‘Legal Clinic’ has been designed to positively impact people who would otherwise be unable to access such specialist advice and support.”

He added, “After 17 years of continued success in the UAE, we are committed to proactively giving back to the communities in which we operate. BSA LAW was proud to partner with the Dubai Land Department on this occasion, and we look forward to building on the success of the first ‘Legal Clinic’ so that we can replicate this initiative regularly.”

His Excellency Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, stated, “This initiative reflects the importance of raising social awareness and improving public services to make Dubai an outstanding example of cooperative ventures between the private and government sectors. The ‘Legal Clinic’ was highly beneficial to the public, creating a positive environment in the community and spreading happiness among all segments of society.”

Residents were advised to arrive early, as the ‘Legal Clinic’ operated on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors expressed their appreciation for the initiative. “I received some excellent guidance and didn’t even have to pay for it,” said a long-term Dubai resident. Another attendee, a 45-year-old Indian resident, described the event as a first-rate move by DLD and BSA LAW, noting, “They do this in medicine, but it is great that they are now helping us in legal affairs too.”
