Position

James Cox accepts instructions across the full range of Chambers’ practice areas.

A core part of James’ practice is criminal defence. He regularly appears in the Crown Court and has been praised for his hard work and ‘considerable court presence’. His recent instructions include acting as sole counsel in a ‘third-strike’ burglary trial and advising a government department on disclosure in connection with a document-heavy regulatory prosecution. James has a particular interest in criminal cases with a human rights dimension and has worked on numerous cases involving ECHR arguments.

James also has a growing practice in professional discipline and is regularly instructed in matters before various disciplinary committees of the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

He has written articles on legal topics for a variety of publications, for which he has won awards.
