Position
Louisa heads the Disputes division for Dentons in the UK. She is a leading commercial litigator with an outstanding record in big-ticket trials and complex cross-border disputes.
Louisa is known for her expertise in corporate/M&A disputes including shareholder disputes, warranty and indemnity claims, and post-completion disputes over deferred consideration and earn-outs. She also has particular experience in disputes and termination issues relating to supply contracts involving products and components, logistics and IT projects.
In her product litigation practice, Louisa acts for product manufacturers on product liability claims, product safety and compliance issues, and product recalls relating to food and drink, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and technology, amongst others. Louisa defended GlaxoSmithKline in a landmark product liability group action relating to its antidepressant Seroxat and was involved in all stages of this long-running litigation.

Underpinned by its global reach, Dentons is regularly involved in multijurisdictional, international trade matters. The team is jointly chaired by Roger Matthews, whose expertise spans export control investigations, sanctions, WTO laws, as well as customs, supply chain and regulatory issues; Daniel Lund, who is extremely knowledgeable of UK and EU regulatory frameworks; Katharine Harle, who handles the regulatory and investigations matters and Louisa Caswell who oversees the team’s disputes work.

Dentons focuses on advising claimants within the construction and financial sectors. The team is led by Louisa Caswell in London and Rob Francis in Milton Keynes. Having undertaken work in relation to the Grenfell Tower inquiry, Francis is skilled with handling public inquiry matters, including cases with elements of professional negligence. Sarah Rutnah frequently handles claims against various professionals such as accountants, surveyors, and legal advisers. James Fairbairn retired from the practice in August 2023, and Tim Constable left the firm in May 2023.
