Career

Byron Robayo is is an attorney and consultant with 13 years of experience in intellectual property and technology transfer.

In these years of practice in the IP field, he has handled more than five hundred cases for national and international companies in constitutional, administrative, judicial and criminal proceedings related with Intellectual Property (Trademarks, Trade Secrets, Copyrights, Distinctive Appearances, and Patents), Unfair Competition, Health, Data Privacy, E-Commerce and Consumer Law.

He teaches commercial law, technology transfer and innovation law at the Universidad Católica del Ecuador, and he received recognition as one of the best law professors from the faculty and the students.

Most recently, Byron became the first Ecuadorian lawyer to be part of the Program of Assistance to Inventors of the World Intellectual Property Organization. The World Intellectual Property Organization has also appointed him as an IP expert for the Latin American region, and he was designed as patent attorney Pro Bono in the first case of the inventor Assistance Program in Ecuador.

Also, he participates in active manner in policy making to strengths in IP rights in Ecuador and he has been appointed as expert speaker for universities, entrepreneurs and companies related in innovation and intellectual property.
