Position
Fernando Jiménez de Aréchaga (Jr) is a Partner in the Montevideo office. He is a member of the Project Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate Law practice groups.
Career
Fernando’s focus is on project financings, particularly in the renewable energy and transport infrastructure sectors. He has advised in relation to project financings and refinancings of wind and solar plants, as well as of Public-Private Partnerships for highway, railway and social infrastructure projects.
He also focuses on mergers and acquisitions, particularly in relation to infrastructure projects, but also in the natural resources’ sector.
His practice also includes Corporate law advice to local and multinational clients that span several industries.
Experience
- SACYR, NGE, SACEEM and Berkes: Representing a consortium formed by these companies throughout all the stages of a US$1.077 billion PPP Project for the construction and maintenance of 273 kilometres of railway line, including a US$869 project financing with IDB Invest, CAF, CAF-AM, Sumitomo and Intesa SanPaolo.
- COPASA and Espina: Representing a consortium formed by these companies in a US$140 million project financing for the construction and operation of a highway under a PPP scheme.
- KfW IPEX Bank GmbH and Bayern LB: Representing a US$224.5 million project financing granted to the “Fideicomiso Financiero Pampa” to finance the Pampa (141.6 MW) wind farm, a project sponsored by the state-owned electricity utility UTE.
- Atlantica Yield Co: Representing this company in a US$120 million acquisition of the company Estrellada S.A., owner of the Melowind wind farm (50 MW), from Enel Group.
