Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has been building its Latin America expertise in recent years, with a notable emphasis on private equity investments, strategic M&A deals and transactions linked to energy and infrastructure assets. Insurance is another key sector for the firm. Former Latin America department head Maria-Leticia Ossa Daza left the firm in May 2024. The department is co-chaired by Eric Pogue in New York and Archie Fallon in Houston. Pogue and Fallon are key advisors for nationwide and international renewable energy transactions. Jorge Kamine, who splits his time between Washington DC, New York and Houston, is well versed in both debt and equity financing of projects. The practice has experienced a significant amount of expansion, with a team of four partners joining from Mayer Brown between September 2023 and January 2024. Other notable hirings include Tony Johnston from Kirkland & Ellis LLP in October 2023, Sarah McLean from A&O Shearman in January 2024, and Holt Foster from Sidley Austin LLP in June 2024.
