James Southworth

James is a partner in our litigation and dispute management group.
He specialises in dispute resolution and regulatory work in the financial services sector, including breach of mandate and conversion claims, security enforcement disputes, commercial fraud, asset and sales finance disputes, investigations and contentious regulatory work. He also handles general commercial litigation, including breach of commercial contracts, warranty claims and director, shareholder and partnership disputes.
James is involved in managing key relationships with financial institutions and has considerable experience across retail, commercial and investment banking.
James has spent 8 months on secondment to the litigation & regulatory team at Barclays Bank and his experience prior to joining Eversheds included acting for a major international bank in the Sumitomo High Court litigation involving a claim for over $1 billion resulting from the activities of a rogue commodities trader in the 1990s.
James has also acted for HSBC, Citi, BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley and Credit Agricole.
