Matthew Sheridan is a global co-leader of the Capital Markets practice, and Asia leader of the International Corporate Finance practice. Matt served on Sidley’s Executive Committee from 2011-2022 and was managing partner of the Singapore office from 2010-2021. He has lived and worked in Asia for over 30 years. Matt has been recognized as one of the early pioneers of the Asian high-yield debt capital markets, helping adapt a New York law product to Asian markets, and regularly works on some of the most complex landmark transactions in the region. He excels in helping clients diversify, develop, and, in down markets, restructure their capital structures.
Matt represents underwriters and issuers, including corporate enterprises, financial institutions, and governmental entities in connection with corporate transactions through market cycles, consisting of debt and equity capital markets transactions, as well as destressed restructurings and liability management transactions, including tender and exchange offers, and consent solicitations. He advises clients throughout the Asia Pacific region, including Indonesia, Greater China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Matt’s experience encompasses transactions involving a broad range of sectors: real estate, telecommunications, financial institutions, technology, transportation, metals, mining, forest products, consumer products, power, and oil and gas.
