Position

Simone Rieken is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s Frankfurt office and a member of the Information Technology Practice Group. Prior to joining the Firm, she worked for a large German corporate law firm, focusing on IT and data protection law. She studied law at the University of Trier and at Queen Mary, University of London and clerked in Hamburg and Los Angeles.

Simone advises national and international companies on all aspects of IT and data protection law. She focuses on IT (outsourcing) contracts and (agile) software developments. Another focus of her practice is on data protection with regard to direct marketing and related tracking and profiling activities.

Die Begleitung von internationalen Transaktionen und Outsourcing-Projekten stellt die Paradedisziplin von Baker McKenzie dar, wobei das Team einen vermehrten Fokus auf die Beratung im Bereich Connected Cars und autonomen Fahren legt und regelmäßig zu Auslagerungen und Konsolidierungen von Datenzentren berät. Die Leitung der Gruppe teilen sich Michael Schmidl und Michaela Nebel, wobei die Aufteilung von Verantwortlichkeiten so erfolgt, dass Mandate in der Outsourcing-Sparte regelmäßig von Schmidl angeführt werden, während Nebel für Transaktionen zuständig ist und hierbei sämtliche Fragestellungen des IT- und Datenrechts abdeckt. Simone Rieken ist in der Erstellung und Verhandlung von Cloud-Verträgen geübt.

Michael Schmidl and Michaela Nebel jointly head the team; Schmidl focuses on outsourcing, while Nebel is a key contact for transactions and also covers all aspects of IT law and data protection. Simone Rieken is experienced in the drafting and negotiation of cloud-related contracts.
