Career
Kurt is a lead trial lawyer with decades of experience focusing on patent and trade secret disputes. He excels at creative, early-stage solutions, but approaches every case with an eye towards winning at trial. Kurt has obtained jury trial victories for both plaintiffs and defendants, including key victories in complex competitor cases. His recent successes include obtaining an ITC exclusion order against several competitors, an almost $300M verdict for a plaintiff, and a directed verdict for a defendant – wiping out billions of dollars of exposure. Prior to his legal career, he worked as a computer engineer on classified government projects and then as a young lawyer learning all aspects of patent law. Kurt currently serves as Chair of the Dallas IP Department for Baker Botts.
