Position
Shanshan is counsel in Carey Olsen’s dispute resolution and insolvency practice, based in Hong Kong. She specialises in complex corporate and commercial litigation, shareholders’ disputes, fraud, asset tracing and recovery, trust, and insolvency and restructuring matters, with a particular focus on representing China-based clients on their cross-border matters.
Shanshan has over 15 years’ experience representing major global financial institutions and corporations, and high-net-worth individuals on their most sensitive and complex commercial disputes in Asia.
Shanshan is a native Mandarin speaker, and fluent in English and Cantonese.
Career
Shanshan started her legal career with a focus on dispute resolution in Guangzhou, PRC after obtaining her LLB and LLM degrees with first class honours from Sun Yat-sen University. She later went to the UK to study English law graduating with distinction and qualified as an English solicitor after training with a leading international firm for two years in its London and Singapore offices respectively. In 2014, Shanshan relocated to Hong Kong to continue her legal practice with a “Magic Circle” English law firm and had worked with its dispute resolution team for almost seven years. Prior to joining Carey Olsen, Shanshan worked with another leading offshore law firm in Hong Kong.
Shanshan was admitted as a solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands), she was also admitted as an attorney-at-law in PRC in 2006 (currently non-practising), as a solicitor in the England and Wales in 2014 and qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2019 (currently non-practising). Shanshan is also a registered associate in Bermuda.
Shanshan participated in the Lord Chancellors’ training scheme from 2009-2010 including work experience at XXIV Old Buildings for 5 months respectively.
