Helen Ruelle is Ogier’s Director of Local Legal Services – she is a Jersey Advocate and one of the Island’s most prominent employment lawyers.
In her 16 years as an employment lawyer and trusted adviser to the boards of local companies, Helen has advised not just on contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, but also data protection, GDPR compliance, competition law, local M&A and relocations for businesses and UHNWs.
Her external appointments include Chair of Jersey Employment Trust, Commissioner of Jersey Appointments Commision, and Trustee of Jersey Community Foundation.
She has also previously acted as Chair of Jersey Employment Forum and Chair of Jersey Community Relations Trust.

Ogier handles a variety of claims relating to breaches of fiduciary duties, complex exits and discrimination, acting for both employers and employees. On the non-contentious front, the team assists with matters of business immigration and the employment aspects of M&A. Helen Ruelle spearheads the firm’s employment efforts, representing clients across the spectrum of contentious matters and also providing support in relation to business and employee relocations. Will Austin-Vautier defends corporate clients in discrimination hearings and assists them with their restructuring efforts.

Acting for a client roster which includes financial services companies and senior executives, Ogier is able to assist clients facing tribunal proceedings around unfair dismissal and discrimination claims, in addition to providing advice on the employment aspects of mergers and restructurings, including redundancies. Practice head Rachel DeSanges frequently appears before employment tribunals, with further expertise relating to directors’ duties and the relocation of senior executives. Helen Ruelle handles a range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including immigration, business licensing and the employment aspects of corporate transactions.
