Gateley Legal is the legal business at the heart of Gateley. Founded in Birmingham in 1808, the firm have provided commercial legal services to individuals and businesses over the last 200 years.
During that time, Gateley Legal have disrupted the legal marketplace; 30 years ago Birmingham’s legal market was dominated by some established players, a ‘legal elite’. Gateley were viewed as the ‘new kids on the block’.
The Gateley leadership team made it their mission to be involved in everything, getting involved in lots of corporate dealmaking, building commercial relationships within the professional community and doing things differently. The work that they did then has laid the foundations for the business that they are today.
The firm are proud that the clients and intermediaries that Gateley Legal worked with in their early days continue to play an important role in the firms business today, and they hope for many years to come. That disruptive attitude continues; in 2015 Gateley was the first commercial UK law firm to list on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM). Now, several years down the line, other law firms have followed their lead. As is so often said, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Gateley Legal Business Services Platform combines the considerable commercial expertise of the firms commercial, IP and dispute resolution lawyers with that of the forensic and business intelligence skills of the Gateley Omega team and the Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys within Adamson Jones.

The firms Corporate Platform combines the skills of corporate ,banking, finance ,tax and restructuring lawyers in Gateley Legal with the inward investment experience of consultants within International Investment Services.
People issues:
Gateley Legal People Platform brings together the advisory skills of the firms leadership and development consultancies t-three and Kiddy & Partners with the expertise of their employment and pensions lawyers within Gateley Legal and the independent pension trustees within Entrust.
Within this Platform, the firm also have a strong Private Client team with experts in private wealth matters for individuals based in England and internationally, private wealth disputes and family issues.
Property matters:
Within their Property Platform, Gateley Legal lawyers advise on construction, planning, residential development ,real estate finance ,real estate development, real estate disputes and real estate investment. The property tax specialists within Gateley Capitus combine with the built environment consultants within Gateley Vinden and Gateley Hamer to offer a one stop shop for all real estate needs. Gateley Legal Property Platform is further complimented by Gateley Smithers Purslow , a specialist provider of surveying services, principally to the insurance industry.
