Bettina Burgess is a seasoned practitioner in the area of employment and workplace privacy law with over 20 years of experience.

Bettina assists both local and global companies manage their employment and workplace legal issues by providing practical and business savvy advice. Bettina understands that her clients do not want legal answers, they want productive solutions. As a result, Bettina partners with her clients to understand their business, their risk tolerance and their goals in order to drive to the right result. Bettina encourages her clients to start with a solid foundation and assists with this by reviewing the workforce and providing all of the appropriate foundational documents such as employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, policies, programs and training materials.

Bettina assists with methods of reducing employer liability and risk, employment standards, statutory compliance, human rights compliance (including accommodation and investigating allegations of discrimination), employee-related matters associated with mergers and acquisitions, how to handle and structure a termination, and employee data management.

She has defended wrongful dismissal actions and human rights applications from commencement to resolution.
