Career

Lisa is a Partner in the healthcare team, where she has worked exclusively since qualifying in January 2001.

She is experienced in dealing with defendant clinical negligence claims on behalf of the National Health Service Litigation Authority and Medical Defence Organisations.

Lisa also has considerable experience in dealing with wider general healthcare matters as part of the Urgent Response Team, including Court Of Protection matters, disclosure and breach of confidentiality claims and mental health advice for NHS trusts across the North East and North West.

As part of the healthcare litigation team, Lisa has regularly undertaken training for healthcare providers in legal issues affecting their practice including inquest training, advocacy and court skills, the Human Rights Act, mental health, mental capacity, consent and disclosure and record keeping, preparation of witness statements.

Lisa has experience in representing the interests of NHS Trusts in the Coroner’s Court, regularly dealing with complicated inquests on behalf of her Trust clients, including Article 2 and jury inquests, complex inquests where Article 2 is not engaged but where the Coroner has widened his enquiries and multi agency inquests. She regularly represents Acute Trusts, Ambulance Trusts and Mental Health Trusts.

She is experienced in dealing with families during what are often emotionally charged situations.

She regularly represents the interest of NHS clients in the Court of Protection in relation to treatment and decisions. She has advised PCT clients, now CCGs in relation to funding for exceptional treatment and ongoing case issues.
