Career
Cameron specialises in advising corporate clients on income tax, stamp duty and GST matters associated with major corporate transactions. He has worked on some of Australia’s largest and most complex deals across a wide range of industry sectors. He also provides tax structuring advice in all areas of corporate tax, especially income tax.
Prior to joining Thomson Geer, Cameron gained a wealth of experience working as a senior tax lawyer for two top tier law firms and the State Revenue Office Victoria. Combined with his strong links to the Australian Taxation Office, he is well placed to liaise and negotiate with tax authorities when advising on tax matters.
Three distinguishing features set Cameron apart as a corporate tax advisor:
- Cameron was a corporate M&A lawyer before he specialised in corporate tax, which enables him to bring a distinct commercial perspective and insight when advising clients on corporate transactions.
- Given Cameron advises on all areas of tax he is a “one-stop-shop” who can efficiently fast-track the identification and analysis of all tax issues at the outset of any transaction which is an attractive value-add for many clients.
- In addition to a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), Master of Laws, Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and Bachelor of Computing, Cameron also holds Chartered Accountancy qualifications which he regularly draws upon to provide a unique analytical and financial perspective when advising on corporate transactions.
