Personal

Rania is the Global Head of Maritime and Offshore and Dubai Office Managing Partner and has been located in the Middle East region for approximately ten years.  She is a renowned shipping and oil and gas lawyer and has over 20 years’ experience servicing clients operating in these industries, with a special focus on resolving disputes and advising on commercial matters for companies.

Rania also has significant experience advising clients in relation to their non-contentious matters and frequently advises clients in relation to their commercial contracts and large-scale projects. Her experience in litigation coupled with her practical industry knowledge allows her to develop, create and review commercial contracts for her clients.

Prior to the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC) being amalgamated into the Dubai International Arbitration Centre in March 2022, Rania was a trustee for EMAC and is a frequent user of specialised Maritime Arbitration Centres globally. Rania is also the President of the UAE branch of the Women in Shipping and Trading Association (“WISTA UAE”) – an international organisation serving as an advocate for women’s advancement within the maritime, trading and logistics sectors.

Stephenson Harwood Middle East LLP strengthened its disputes offering with the 2024 hires of John Lewis, formerly of Charles Russell Speechlys, who now leads the team, and Mohamed ElHawawy and Khurram Ali, who both joined from Ince & Co.
