Head of employment, team of 15 fee earners. Acts on behalf of a number of significant public and private sector organisations. He has particular expertise in the area of discrimination and in addition to considerable experience of defending complex and sensitive cases, he provides in-house training and coaching to senior managers/directors. He is an accredited CEDR Mediator, UN approved investigator/trainer and is on the Lexis Nexis Butterworths expert panel. Makbool also heads up the consulting arm of the firm which provides business strategy and human resources solutions.
Career
Qualified 1988. Bindman & Partners, trainee/assistant solicitor (1988-91); Commission for Racial Equality, head of litigation (1991-98); DLA Piper, partner (1998-2007). Publications of note: regular contributor to HR Director Magazine and People Management; contributor to Law Society’s ‘Discrimination in Employment’, CIPD’s ‘Employment Law for People Managers’ and ‘Employment Law in Practice’ manuals. Also co-author of ‘Discrimination and Diversity’ published by Gee Publication and ‘Challenging Racism’ published by Lawrence and Wishart.
