Hazel McNaught
Work Department
Divorce and Family.
Position
Senior Associate Solicitor.
Career
Hazel joined Stevens & Bolton in 2009 where she trained and qualified, before moving to Camilla Baldwin in 2014. Hazel then joined the team at Simons Muirhead & Burton LLP in 2016 where her practice has burgeoned.
Throughout her career, Hazel has developed her practice of family law, specialising in high and ultra-high net worth divorce and resolving the financial disputes arising on the breakdown of a marriage. Hazel also specialises in prenuptial agreements. She advises separated families on any disputes concerning the children, and is increasingly called upon to advise in less traditional family arrangements such as surrogacy, sperm and egg donation and same sex parenting.
Hazel is praised by clients for her warmth and conciliatory approach, but she is an incredibly robust litigator when required, and always fiercely protects the interests of her clients. She has an excellent head for figures and clients praise her “exceptional eye for forensic detail which is second to none”. She is frequently called upon to advise in situations where one party suspects assets have been hidden from view and has successfully traced significant sums in her previous cases.
She has acted for clients from the worlds of media, politics, the City, and particularly professional sports.
Education
The Glasgow Academy, Newcastle University and Guildford University of Law.
