Trained and practiced at DLA Piper for over 12 years. Joined Simons Muirhead & Burton as a partner in 2007. Qualified mediator, experienced in conducting employment related investigations and frequently delivers in-house training programmes.
Experienced in advising on the employment aspects of corporate transactions: from advising on transactional risk to drafting and undertaking due diligence. Frequently advises clients on issues arising from redundancies, restructuring, TUPE transactions, senior executive disputes and matters of unlawful discrimination. Provides strategic advice at board level and often assists clients in devising and implement collective consultation programmes and in effecting changes to contractual terms and conditions. Ewan’s practice also includes advising on senior executive restrictive covenants and team poaching.
Ewan has recently: assisted a leading global medical devices company in the reorganisation of its UK workforce following acquisitions; acted for a large UK publisher introducing gender pay gap and modern day slavery policies; assisted a multinational digital workflow and distribution company in matters of staff poaching; and, advised a large UK charity on matters concerning senior management performance.
