Position

Daniel is a partner in the firm’s Tax department and heads up the firm’s real estate tax practice.

Daniel has acted for a broad range of real estate clients including institutional investors, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, REITs, developers, occupiers, high net worth individuals, charities and housing associations. He has therefore received exposure to all areas of the UK commercial and residential real estate markets. He has particular expertise in advising on the acquisition and development of student accommodation and care homes, having acted on some of the largest transactions in these sectors in the last few years.

Daniel also has considerable experience in providing transactional corporate tax advice, including in relation to M&A, reorganisations, demergers, MBOs and other corporate transactions. In addition, Daniel has regularly advised on personal and employment tax matters (e.g. management taxation, termination payments) and charity tax issues (e.g. VAT recovery and application of tax reliefs).

Career

Daniel trained at Nabarro and progressed to the role of Senior Associate. He subsequently moved to Trowers & Hamlins as a Senior Associate before joining the Real Estate Deals team at PwC LLP as a Senior Manager. He joined Shoosmiths LLP in 2016
