Mexico > Bankruptcy and restructuring

Mañón Quintana Abogados routinely defends financial institutions, listed companies and stock market clients involved in reorganisation or bankruptcy proceedings. A recent highlight saw the group represent Banjercito as a creditor in the insolvency of Banco Famsa. Founding partners Antonio Mañón and Gerardo Quintana Pineda, along with January 2024 arrival Ricardo García Cordero Sasía (previously at Márquez, Castelazo & García Cárdenas, S.C.), co-lead the practice. Mañón has significant experience representing clients in the automotive sector – as well as banks and other financial institutions – in arbitration and insolvency or commercial litigation, while Quintana Pineda and Cordero Sasía have additional expertise in insurance and reinsurance litigation. The practice was strengthened in June 2023 by the arrival of senior associate Ana Karen Nava González, previously at Cannizzo, Ortiz y Asociados SC.

Mexico > Dispute resolution: litigation

Mañón Quintana Abogados‘ litigation department houses ‘young and passionate partners with extensive experience in litigation in Mexico‘, and the dispute resolution boutique is well placed to assist with insolvency, class actions, and civil and commercial litigation. A number of multinationals with stakes in the Mexican market have the firm as chosen counsel for litigation, with the team having earned a particularly strong reputation in the banking and insurance sectors. In January 2024 the firm made an addition to its leadership team with the hire of Ricardo García Cordero Sasía from Márquez, Castelazo & García Cárdenas. He bringss two decades’ experience advising banking and insurance clients and joins Antonio Mañón and Gerardo Quintana in overseeing matters. Darío Jandette Fuentes (banking & finance, insurance, bankruptcy and litigation) is a further partner-level name to note. Former senior associate Alberto Quintana left the firm in April 2024.
