Position

Alex is a Partner, and the Head of Lewis Silkin’s Sports Business sector group . She is a commercial and IP lawyer, specialising in the exploitation of commercial rights in sport. Her clients include federations, teams, events, athletes and venues, as well as brands and agencies. She advises on a wide range of sports marketing and commercial matters, including sponsorship, talent agreements, image rights, arrangements relating to the hosting of sports events, media rights, advertising regulation and brand protection. Alex benefits from a detailed understanding of copyright, trade marks and passing off but takes a very commercial approach to helping clients protect, exploit and enforce their IP assets. Alex is also leading global expert on ambush marketing and the special legislation that sports rights holders implement in relation to major events.

Career

Prior to setting off on her legal career Alex was an international swimmer, winning a gold and two silver medals with the relays at the 1994 Commonwealth Games. Her swimming career was cut short by injury but she continues her involvement in the sport as a non-executive board member of British Swimming.
