ElSayed Afifi is counsel in Sharq Law Firm’s litigation team with over 40 years of experience handling complex criminal and civil cases across Egypt and the Gulf. He specialises in high-stakes trials, appellate litigation, and legal strategy in sensitive criminal matters.
He advises on criminal procedure, evidentiary standards, and statute of limitations, and has extensive experience drafting pleadings before all levels of court, including the Court of Cassation. Mr Afifi has worked closely with senior judges and legal experts on the defence of prominent criminal cases and regularly supports law firms with litigation strategy and legal drafting.
Alongside his courtroom work, Mr Afifi is widely known for his academic contributions to the field of criminal law. He is the author of several widely cited legal texts, including The Comprehensive Guide to Criminal and Civil Memoranda and The Intermediate Book on Criminal Case Statute of Limitations. He also served for many years as a legal commentator on Egyptian national television, providing accessible legal analysis to the public.
