Edward Corbett is acknowledged as one of the world’s most experienced international construction lawyers with an unsurpassed reputation as a FIDIC expert.
Edward has worked exclusively in construction law since 1984 and his experience includes contract drafting and procurement strategy as well as Dispute Boards, ICC arbitration, litigation and ADR. He has worked for contractors as well as for employers, funders and consultants. He regularly advises some of the world’s major employers and contractors and his current caseload involves projects in Europe, Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.
He has experience as an arbitrator and adjudicator on both UK and international disputes and is an accredited mediator. He was a FIDIC Certified Adjudicator (2021-2024).
Edward is the author of FIDIC 4th – A Practical Legal Guide and a contributor to FIDIC 2017 – A Practical Legal Guide. He has written many articles and papers dealing with aspects of international construction contracts. He was a founder of Construction Law International (CLInt). He has lectured extensively on construction law and in particular on FIDIC’s standard forms of contract. He was a FIDIC Certified Trainer (2022-2024).
Edward was named a Global Elite Thought Leader by Who’s Who Legal 2019 and described as “a heavyweight in the international construction field and the top name in Europe according to our research this year”. Sources say he is “the star player in the UK market”, with “knowledge that is next to none”. Edward has been recommended in the Legal 500 since 2006.
