Position
I head the firm’s regional Competition practice as well as our Competition & Regulatory and co-head Life Sciences & Healthcare teams in Lithuania.
As leader of a team operating in a wide variety of legal fields such as competition and antitrust, state aid, EU law and institutions, regulated markets, government relations and pharma, I have the opportunity to work with a highly diverse group of legal experts who, in the opinion of our clients and legal directories, are among the leading experts in their fields.
Career
Business-oriented legal advisor. During my career as a lawyer I have enjoyed a unique opportunity to analyse situations from four different angles: as an in-house lawyer, as a member of management bodies, as an academic and finally – as an attorney-at-law. This diverse background, in addition to experience as a managing partner of law firms, enables me to step into the shoes of our clients and provide not only legal assistance but also well-rounded business advice.
Passionate competition lawyer. I have had a special interest in competition law since 1999. In 2003 I successfully defended my doctoral thesis in the field of vertical agreements. As a practicing lawyer I have been involved in landmark antitrust cases as well as the most-debated merger projects. I am very happy that hard work pays off: according to legal directories and most importantly our clients, our team and I are considered the top choice in competition matters in Lithuania.
Knowledge-thirsty person. My eagerness to learn allows me to constantly improve my own professional expertise and encourage my team to do the same. From my point of view, every meeting with a client, evolving around their needs and business peculiarities, offers a valuable learning opportunity. Working with our Competition & Regulatory team gives me a chance to learn and deepen my knowledge in different legal fields and business sectors.

Sorainen‘s transport and logistics team provides expert advice in the shipping and transport markets across the Baltic region. The work covers regulatory, maritime and aviation, rail and road, logistics, smart mobility and tourism sectors. Further, the services offered include vessel and aircraft registration, freight forwarding and various transportation solutions. In recent years the firm has developed a specialism in handling sanction matters in the transport sector, with numerous sanction-related advice, often involving the Lithuanian Customs’ investigations, navigated by the team. Daivis Švirinas leads the team alongside co-head Vaiva Mašidlauskienė, who has a focus on transport law, covering aviation, rail, roads and maritime issues.
