Position

As the leader of the firm’s Tax team in Lithuania and a co-head of the regional team, I help clients ensure effective communication with the tax administrator. In advising on tax issues, I always seek creative solutions that meet client needs. 

Career

Effective communication with the tax administrator. In addition to drafting inquiries and binding ruling requests related to complex tax issues, I also represent clients’ interests in negotiations and discussions with the tax administrator and provide full support to clients during control procedures such as tax investigations and examinations (audits).

Tax disputes. I always seek the most effective strategy in tax disputes and help clients to prepare a well-reasoned position supported by strong arguments. Our team boasts a track record of successfully defending client interests during tax administrator control procedures and of winning practice-changing cases. For example, in a case concerning application of 0% VAT rates, we proved the tax administrator‘s requirements to be unjustified and disproportionate, and in another case we succeeded in showing that the tax administrator’s binding rulings can be appealed.

Tax consultations. I advise clients on direct and indirect tax aspects, draft legal opinions and memorandums on tax issues.

Experience at the Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate. Before joining Sorainen, I was deputy director of the Large Taxpayer Monitoring and Consulting Department of the Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate for seven years. This meant active involvement in various working groups, such as those responsible for agreements with the State Tax Inspectorate and binding rulings. In addition, I led complex control projects and took part in the legislative process. This experience helps me to successfully evaluate business needs and find the most effective solutions while communicating with the tax inspectorate, which in turn results in integrated and individualized solutions for our clients.
