Career

Alexandru Stanoiu joined RTPR in 2019, from one of the law firms affiliated to a Big 4 company where he has coordinated the tax litigation team for the previous 9 years. Alexandru has more than 20-year litigation experience, specialising in tax litigation, insolvency, competition and state aid law, commercial, administrative and civil law. He represented a large variety of foreign and domestic clients in a wide range of tax disputes, regarding transfer pricing adjustments, VAT recovery, interests for late VAT reimbursements, etc.
He successfully represented Siemens Gamesa (part of Siemens group) in a preliminary referral case in front of the Court of Justice of the European Union in a VAT related matter and the compatibility of the Romanian Tax Authorities with EU VAT legislation. He is also an insolvency practitioner and was part of the team that administered the bankruptcy of the largest Romanian insurance player from 2014 to 2019. Alexandru also represents clients in complex competition cases.

Alexandru Stanoiu is a qualified Romanian lawyer, registered with the Bucharest Bar. He is also a member of the National Union of Romanian Bar Associations.

Education

Alexandru Stanoiu graduated from the University of Bucharest, Law Faculty in 1999 and post-university studies in Public Law in 2001. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in EU Competition Law (Passed with Merits) and a Master of Arts in EU Competition Law from King’s College London.
