Position

Adv. Liam Schwartz is a recognized leader in United States and Israeli corporate immigration law. His law practice focuses on assisting companies in relocating executives, managers and specialized knowledge employees to the U.S.

Liam works primarily with Human Resources and other C-level executives at client companies, guiding them through the maze of non-immigrant work visas. Given the nature of his primary clientele – startups involved with cyber, biotech, fintech, real estate and AI – his work focuses on the two “E” work visas (E-1 trade and E-2 investment), the O-1 extraordinary ability visa, and the L-1 intercompany transferee visa. Liam and his team provide total lifecycle support for the relocation visa process, from selecting the best visa type for the client, its personnel and their families; to drafting and submitting the substantive visa petitions; to preparing employees for the in-person interview with a U.S. Consular Officer.

Liam also works with individuals, specializing in complex visa cases involving possible inadmissibility to the U.S. due to (for example) past criminal convictions (white-collar and cannabis-related violations, e.g.) or immigration violations such as overstays and unauthorized employment.

As Head of the firm’s Corporate Immigration Practice, Liam provides guidance and assistance in the field of Israeli immigration law to a large range of foreign and domestic business clients. His work in the Israeli corporate immigration field focuses on B-1 Foreign Experts, the 90 day short-term expert visa, the 45-day expedited work visa, the B-1 High Tech/Cyber work visa and the B-5 investor visa for American citizens. In parallel, Liam has served as Outside Counsel to the Israel Population and Immigration Authority on U.S. immigration law issues.

Liam’s career contributions include: Annual selection by his global peers to the list of “Most Highly Regarded Individuals in Corporate Immigration Law;” Service in positions for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) including Chair, Department of State Liaison Committee; Chair, AILA EMEA Chapter; and co-Chair, AILA Global Migration Section; Receipt of an AILA Presidential Commendation for Outstanding Leadership, the AILA Sam Williamson Mentor Award, and the AILA Edward Gudeon Service Award; Co-author of the Council on Foreign Relations’ Policy Memorandum on modernizing the United States visa system; Featured in a large variety of media in Israel and abroad; Lectured at professional conferences throughout the United States, Israel and Europe; Authored dozens of articles for professional publications, as well as several books and guides; Creator of “Consular Corner,” an online community dedicated to raising the level of discourse between American consular officers and immigration attorneys.
