The head of the firm’s local government sector team, Matthew is a trusted employment lawyer who is known for his commitment to clients and approachable style of service.
With over 20 years of experience, Matthew has built a client base of local authorities and senior council officers whom he advises on a wide array of employment matters. His experience is broad, covering ‘live’ internal disputes, internal investigations, senior officer departures and settlement agreements, as well as supporting employee investigations and guiding clients on the crossover between employment law and governance. Trusted for his excellent advice, Matthew also appears before council committees to advise on senior officer employment issues and provides training on a variety of topics, including training for councillors on conducting dismissal appeal hearings. Matthew also advises clients in the charities, social housing and health and social care sectors on employment law issues.
