Work Department
Partner, Dispute Resolution
Position
I have been with Fladgate for over 30 years, for about half of which my main specialism was real estate disputes. Work for a corporate client led me to diversify into broader civil and commercial disputes, though often (but by no means always) with real estate at their heart in one way or another. As my clients’ businesses grew so has the breadth and depth of my practice.
Over the years I have acted in a wide range of challenging disputes, and has extensive experience of the full range of processes, whether court claims, arbitration, expert determination, mediation and always negotiation whenever possible.
Different cases and clients require different approaches, but the common objective is to resolve the problem in the best way for the client. A win is terrific. Still as the song goes, you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometime you find, you get what you need (with thanks to the Rolling Stones for that piece of wisdom).
Career
Trained Charles Boundy & Co, qualified 1984; made partner Fladgate 1989.
Languages
German, French (both conversational).
Memberships
Property Litigation Association; Association of Women in Property; The Law Society.
Education
The Cedars School, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire; Bristol University (LLB Hons 1980).
Leisure
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with her family and friends, walking and pretty much anything outdoors, visiting art galleries, museums and the theatre, watching the Arsenal (theatre of a different kind).
