Work Department
Corporate, India desk, Luxury Assets Group, Private Wealth Group
Position
I lead the India Desk with Sunil Sheth, and I am the head of the Luxury Assets Group, and I am our Inclusion and Diversity partner. I am dual-qualified in England and Wales as well as India. I am recognised by Legal 500, Chambers and the India Business Law Journal for my specialism in cross-border acquisitions and joint ventures. I have particular expertise in advising entrepreneurs on a variety of business interests, including real estate, manufacturing, hospitality and leisure.
After qualifying as a lawyer in India, while working for a former Solicitor General, I came to London to study at the LSE. I then joined Fladgate as a newly qualified solicitor, where I rose through the ranks to become the youngest female partner at the firm in 2013.
My clients include Indian companies and HNW individuals from the Indian diaspora. I also advise companies wishing to do business in India.
I have a pragmatic approach when advising clients who appreciate my handling of difficult situations with tact, calm and a positive, can-do attitude. I provide innovative commercial solutions to a wide ranging client base. I have particularly enjoyed advising on the sale and purchase of container ships, private jets, helicopters, vintage cars, boutique hotels, restaurants and more.
When not lawyering with my clients, I am busy being a trustee of Sense UK, a charity for people with complex disabilities and a member of their Finance and Audit Committee. I am also a trustee of Kamal India Foundation UK and a member of the Development Committee of PAN Intercultural Arts.
I was shortlisted in the professional category for the Women of the Future Awards 2017, and have since been an ambassador of the programme. I speak Hindi, Tamil and Greek.
