Position
Partner, Head of the Pensions practice in Fieldfisher’s London office.
Career
David is Head of Fieldfisher’s Pensions practice and advise employers large and small, pension scheme trustees, pension product providers and financial institutions.
David helps them navigate the complex world of pensions law on day-to-day matters, scheme restructurings, employer financial support, winding up schemes, investment and litigation issues.
Some of Davids major clients have been trusting him with their pensions legal issues for over 20 years and he is considered to be a leading individual in pensions law.
David works in the energy and natural resources sector for a number of electricity industry pension scheme entities. In the banking and financial services sector he has helped a number of banks develop products for secured lending to executive pension schemes. And in the transport sector he has helped trustees through a number of major pensions projects.
David has a detailed working knowledge of the additional requirements imposed on employers involved in public sector schemes including the Fair Deal and Best Value rules involved in outsourcing and other staff transfers.
Memberships
In November 2023 David took office as the Chair of the Association of Pension Lawyers, having been Chair-Elect since November 2022. This role is an immense privilege and involves a large amount of liaison with law-makers, regulators and other leading industry bodies
