Career
Paul is head of the Oil and Gas group at Fieldfisher and has 23 years’ experience acting for leading oil and gas companies in the UK and internationally.
His sector experience includes six years at Hess Corporation and a period on secondment with Shell.
Paul joined Fieldfisher in November 2019 from Womble Bond Dickinson, where he was head of the Energy sector and the Oil and Gas team.
Recent deals include acting for Serica Energy in its acquisition of interests in the Bruce, Keith and Rhum fields and Chrysaor E&P in its £2.7 billion acquisition of the North Sea assets of ConocoPhillips. He is now working with Chrysaor in its merger with Premier Oil (see Publishable Matter 2) – the most significant M&A deal in the UK oil and gas sector in 2020.
Paul has been Chair of the Oil and Gas Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) for the last two years (term expired 31 December 2020) and is now an officer of SEERIL, the IBA section of which the Oil and Gas Law Committee forms part. He is also a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN).
