Barend de Roy van Zuidewijn is a lawyer and partner at AKD with over thirty years of experience with insolvency and restructuring. He advises and represents banks in legal issues concerning attachments and executions, for example in disputes regarding the withdrawal of (group) financing, the execution sale of securities and disputes concerning joint and several liability. In addition Barend regularly represents as a lawyer directors and supervisory directors who have been held liable in law.

Barend regularly acts as bankruptcy trustee. Barend was involved as bankruptcy trustee of KPNQwest Finance, the financing company of the KPNQwest group, Internoc Holding, Bobel, Ring! Rosa Products, Reggehuys Groep and TAF Groep, which are funds which invest in European real estate.

Clients appreciate his specialist knowledge and the way in which he takes control. “He’s a great lawyer who has a lot of knowledge and he directs things very well.”

As the lawyer for Chubb Insurance Company of Europe SE Barend was involved in the directors’ liability proceedings during the bankruptcies of Jomed N.V. and Ceteco. As a lawyer he represented the interests of large creditors during bankruptcy proceedings involving DAF N.V. and Fokker N.V.
