Career

Javier Tortuero joined Uría Menéndez in Madrid in 2000 and was made partner in 2011. From September 2005 to May 2006, Javier participated in Sullivan & Cromwell’s Visiting Lawyers Program in New York. He was the managing partner of Uría Menéndez’s New York office from 2016 to 2020.

Javier’s practice focuses on M&A, securities markets (capital and debt issues) and banking and finance. He advises listed companies, financial entities, private equity firms and other clients on wide-ranging corporate matters, such as corporate governance and contracting.

Javier has acted as secretary to the board of directors of several Spanish companies.
